Porn Induced Sexual Dysfunction is a Growing Problem July 11, 2011
In the last decade or so, addiction researchers have discovered that too much dopamine stimulation has a paradoxical effect. The brain decreases its ability to respond to dopamine signals (desensitization). This occurs with all addictions, both chemical and natural. In some porn users, the response to dopamine is dropping so low that they can’t achieve an erection without constant hits of dopamine via the Internet.

The Funnel of Sexual Arousal (Male and Female Differences and Pornography)
The mindbody is persistent in its mission to seek to link information, experiences, and knowledge together, to achieve a “peak experience.” Sexual climax is one of the most intense “peak” experiences the mindbody can experience. And climax cannot take place without what is called the “narrowing process.”
Our mindbody is like a narrow landing strip–only one plane can set down at a time. For example, if you are in conversation with someone, and the T.V. is blaring in the background and children are screaming and playing outside, in order to clearly make out what the children are up to you must “let go” of the conversation first. Of course, if you do so, then the conversation becomes background. Read more. . .
Pornography’s Impact on Marriage and the Family
Since the advent of the Internet, the pornography industry has profited from an unprecedented proximity to the home, work and school environments. XXXChurch is a non-profit organization that exists to help people of all ages who are being assaulted by pornography. we prevail through awareness, prevention and recovery.
Although many parents work diligently to protect their family from sexually explicit material, research funded by Congress has shown Internet pornography to be “very intrusive.”[1] Additionally, we know that a variety of fraudulent, illegal and unethical practices are used to attract new customers and eroticize attitudes that undermine public health and safety. This profit-driven assault jeopardizes the well-being of our youth and violates the privacy of those who wish not to be exposed. Read more. . .
The Effects of Pornography on Individuals, Marriage, Family and the Community
Pornography is a visual representation of sexuality which distorts an individual’s concept of the nature of conjugal relations. This, in turn, alters both sexual attitudes and behavior. It is a major threat to marriage, to family, to children and to individual happiness. In undermining marriage it is one of the factors in undermining social stability.
Social scientists, clinical psychologists, and biologists have begun to clarify some of the social and psychological effects, and neurologists are beginning to delineate the biological mechanisms through which pornography produces its powerful negative effects. Read more. . .
The Elastic Bed Syndrome
Laurie Hall’s husband, Jack, began an “innocent” fascination with softcore pornography that later led to frequent attendance at strip clubs and visits to prostitutes. After more than 18 years of marriage, Laurie discovered Jack’s behavior and wrote a book telling her story and exploring how infidelity of the mind is linked to infidelity of the body.

n my last article, I discussed how pornography’s scourge scorches the soul of the innocent-the children and teens. Theirs is the most tragic situation of all because they suffer needlessly as a result of the lust, greed and selfishness of others. But what about the men who get sucked into porn’s cauldron of lust? I certainly would never suggest that their suffering is anything like that of innocent women and children who lay in the wake of pornography addiction. Nor am I suggesting that their actions should be excused or justified. But I do submit that the suffering and misery experienced by men who get pulled into the pornography trap are real and excruciating. Read more. . .
The Harms of Pornogaphy
What is pornography? Sexual addictions specialist, Dr. Victor Cline describes the origin and meaning of the word “pornography”:
“The word ‘pornography’ comes from the Greek words ‘porno’ and ‘graphic’ meaning ‘depictions of the activities of whores’… . In common parlance [or, phraseology], it usually means ‘material that is sexually explicit and intended primarily for the purpose of sexual arousal….’” Dr. Rory Reid, sexual additions specialist, extends this meaning: “Pornography is any visual or written medium created with the intent to sexually stimulate. If the work was not intended to stimulate but nevertheless causes sexual arousal in an individual, it constitutes pornography for that person. If you find yourself asking whether a work is pornographic, the question itself suggests the material makes you uncomfortable. That should be enough to tell you to avoid it.” Read more. . .
How Pornography Harms Children
While there are many ways that pornography harms children, I want to assure you that every child who views pornography will not necessarily be affected and, at worst, traumatized in the same way. The effects of pornography are progressive and addictive for many people. Just as every person who takes a drink does not automatically become an alcoholic, every child who is exposed to pornography does not automatically become a sexual deviant or sex addict. However, since pornography has a new door to the home, school, and library through the Internet, it is important for us to look at the many ways that pornography can potentially harm our children.
